All-new PK–8 School Opening This Fall
Class is (almost) in session. Because brand-new Big Sky PK–8 — the school that Barefoot kids will attend —is opening this August.
Located just 3 miles from Barefoot in Mead (and part of the top-ranked St. Vrain Valley School District), Big Sky PK-8 will open its doors to its first students this fall for the 2026-27 school year. The school will start with grades PK-6, then add 7th grade for the 2027-28 school year and 8th in 2028-29. And to make the transition from middle to high school an easier one, Big Sky shares a campus with Mead High School — fostering a connection between the two school communities.
As for what’s inside? Students are going to find some pretty incredible things within its walls.
The hub of the school will be The Commons, a bright sunlit space for eating lunch, having concerts and making new friends. The library will be a quiet and airy spot where kids can settle down with a book (check out the cozy reading nook). Budding musicians will have the opportunity to learn to play band and orchestra instruments in the two music rooms. And just wait until you see the huge rock climbing wall in the gym. The playground is epic. The teachers are amazing. And curriculum is rigorous and challenging — empowering every child to reach their full potential. (Get a sneak peek here.)
We can’t wait to see what the new school — and school year — will bring to our community.
Go, Bison!
